Ayatul Kursi Canvas

This original artwork is a visual reflection on Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255), the most powerful verse of the Qur’an, known in Islamic tradition as the verse of Divine authority, protection, and all-encompassing knowledge. The composition is built around the sacred Name Allah, placed at the centre as the point of stillness from which all existence flows.

Encircling the centre, the full verse of Ayatul Kursi is written in continuous motion, forming a protective ring of calligraphy. This circular form symbolises the limitless reach of Allah’s dominion, echoing the meaning of the verse:

“His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him.”

The circle becomes a visual boundary of remembrance — a shield of words — reflecting the prophetic teaching that Ayatul Kursi is recited for safeguarding, for peace, and for the unseen protection granted by Allah.

Unlike darkness, this piece is filled with radiance. Layers of green, yellow, pink, and violet move outward from the centre like waves of light, suggesting life, growth, mercy, and Divine energy flowing through creation. The luminous centre represents guidance, while the textured outer edges reflect the unpredictability of the world that surrounds the believer.

The raised, fractured surface symbolises the trials of life, yet the unbroken circle of calligraphy reminds us that nothing exists outside the knowledge of Allah. No matter how chaotic the world appears, the verse stands complete, whole, and unshaken.

White markings scattered across the centre resemble sparks of light — moments of barakah, mercy, and protection that appear in ways the human eye cannot always understand.

This artwork is not only meant to be viewed, but to be lived with —

a reminder of tawakkul,
and a presence of spiritual protection.
