Mixed media on canvas, heavy texture.
This piece, Hasbun Allah wa Ni‘ma al-Wakil, is a reflection of unshaken faith in the face of hardship, a visual expression of the words that have lived on the tongues of the oppressed for generations: “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” It is a phrase recited in moments of fear, loss, and uncertainty — not as surrender, but as strength. For the people of Palestine, these words have become a shield for the heart, a reminder that even when the world turns away, reliance upon Allah never fails.
At the centre of the artwork, the Arabic calligraphy forms a powerful circular composition, symbolising completeness, endurance, and the unbroken nature of faith. Within the flowing letters, the colours of the Palestinian flag are woven into the strokes themselves, as if the words and the land cannot be separated. The calligraphy does not sit still — it moves, overlaps, and holds itself together with tension and balance, reflecting the reality of a people who remain standing despite everything placed against them.
In the heart of the composition lies the outline of Gaza, held carefully within the words, as though protected by the very remembrance of Allah. The land sits at the centre not only geographically, but spiritually — a place carrying pain, sacrifice, patience, and an unyielding attachment to home. Around it, shimmers of bronze leaf catch the light, symbolising love for the soil, honour for those who remain upon it, and the deep, unbreakable bond between a people and the land entrusted to them. The bronze does not only decorate the piece; it glows like something precious, reminding us that what is loved for the sake of Allah can never truly be taken away.
The layered textures and shifting tones reflect both struggle and resilience — darkness and light existing together, just as hardship and faith exist side by side. Every mark, every line, every fragment of colour feels like a testimony of patience, of sabr, and of complete trust in divine justice.
This artwork stands as a reminder that Hasbun Allah wa Ni‘ma al-Wakil is more than a verse — it is a state of the heart. A declaration that no matter how heavy the trial, the believer does not break, because their strength does not come from the world, but from the certainty that Allah sees, Allah knows, and Allah is enough.
