Lohe Qurani – Gold Foil Print
This print is taken from an original artwork i created of the Lohe Qurani a collection of sacred, disconnected Arabic letters that appear at the beginning of 29 chapters (Surahs) in the Holy Quran.
Loh (لوح): Means a tablet, slate, or plaque.
Qurani (قرآنی): Means related to the Quran.
Rendered from an original painting on a black background finished in gold foil, Lohe Qurani captures a divine elegance that sits between the seen and the unseen. Across the canvas, disconnected Arabic letters rise from the dark alif, lam, meem, qaf, kaf, ha, ya, ain, saad the mysterious muqatta'at, the "disjointed letters" that open twenty-nine chapters of the Qur'an.
Above them, gold drips descend like something poured from beyond the frame, symbolic, blessed, deliberate. As they fall and meet each letter, the gold shifts and deepens, as though the letters themselves are absorbing something of what touches them, a visual echo of the spiritual energy said to surround these verses.
This one artwork inspired the Lohe Qurani collection.
