Heavily textured mixed medium canvas.
This original artwork is inspired by Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255), the most powerful verse of the Qur’an, known in Islamic tradition as the verse of divine authority, protection, and absolute knowledge. The composition is built around the central declaration of faith, where the Name Allah rises upward, anchoring the piece in stillness while everything around it moves in layered motion.
Beneath it, the words of La ilaha illa Allah are woven into the centre, affirming the foundation of belief, while the full verse of Ayatul Kursi forms a circular enclosure around the core. This circular form represents the limitless reach of Allah’s dominion — a visual reflection of the meaning of the verse:
“His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him.”
The surrounding calligraphy acts as a spiritual boundary, symbolising the protection that Ayatul Kursi is known for in Islamic tradition. It is a verse recited for safety, for peace of heart, and for the unseen guarding that surrounds the believer by the will of Allah.
The textured surface, with its layers of pink, green, and deep metallic tones, reflects the complexity of the human state — fragile, emotional, searching — yet always held within Divine control. The raised, almost fractured edges suggest the trials of life, while the illuminated centre represents guidance that remains constant despite the chaos around it.
The contrast between softness and intensity mirrors the experience of faith itself:
moments of vulnerability, moments of strength, and the certainty that Allah’s knowledge encompasses both.
This piece is not only a work of calligraphy, but a visual dhikr —
a reminder placed within the home so that the eye returns again and again to the words of protection.
Ayatul Kursi is recited for safeguarding, for comfort, and for nearness to Allah.
In this artwork, the verse becomes a circle without end,
symbolising that the power, mercy, and authority of Allah surround all things,
seen and unseen.
